If so, the certificate should provide information about their ages, addresses and occupations and their respective fathers‘ names and occupations. The names of the witnesses might also be helpful.

Just a thought....
If you know that they are your great great grandparents, you must presumably also know the name of at least one of their children who was your great grandparent.
Do you think that it might help us to find them if we also knew about this child and any other details that you already have or did they move overseas soon after the wedding, making it irrelevant ?

The GRO reference is....
1839 Rothbury OND quarter 25 432E
.....should you wish to obtain the Marriage Certificate.
It is on FreeBMD but not matched up due to differing reference numbers having been ascribed to each of them. (Mary is shown as 432B). I will submit a postem correction.

On the 1881 census (Rothbury RG11/5139 Folio 18 Page 3) which you can see free of charge at http://www.familysearch.org/ there is a James Anderson aged 34 from Elsdon who is a Shepherd and a Widower with four children.
Could one of those children be your great grandparent ?

Thank you so much for the information you sent me, you've been a great help. The only info I had on that family is my great grandmother, (Isabel Anderson B. 1879 D. 1943) death cert. which names her father: James Anderson, (shepherd) mother: Barbara Nichol. I found a marriage for James Anderson and Barbara Nichol 1871 Alwinton, Northumberland.
The 1881 census for James Anderson looks like it could be right, What do you think?
