I think it says 'All St' (ie All Saints) not 'He St'. It's where he was in 1841 (HO107/433).

I've just got onto Ancestry ... what no-one has noticed is that the page is part of the Gloucestershire census ... 'He ll' is his place of birth, and I think its merely some sort of poorly written abbreviation for Herefordshire.
I often use Hfd for both the city and the county ... could this entry not be 'Hereford He ds' short for the county name ?

I'm still not convinced that All Saints was his place of birth ... All Saints is the name of the church in the centre of Hereford (I have a superb vegetarian lunch there once a fortnight !) ... but the road, and the area of Hereford the church is in, is Eign Gate ...

I agree with Richard.
Remember that people were supposed to record which parish they came from & All Saints was (according to Genuki) the most populous parish in Hereford.

I bow to your superior knowledge, AR.
I hadnt realised people had to record their baptism parish, rather than the actual place of birth ...
Pels .. thats why he was baptised in ALL Saints !!
