thanks very much for those. I wonder where George was hiding in 1851?!
I'm guessing it must be the right / same family.
at least I'm closer to locating him in the census - it seems a very large extended family with the latest research!
best wishes,
Ian.

I expect he's mistranscribed somewhere but I've tried everything I can think of.

This is interesting!
I have Tices from Yateley in my tree, but from a bit earlier - in the 1700s. First time I've come across other Tices!!
As there is no Yateley coverage on the IGI, I contacted the Yateley Society and they were very helpful providing me with some PR details. All they ask in return is that you share details of your Yateley family with them, as they like to follow the history of Yateley families. The website is:
www.hants.org.uk/yateley
It gives a contact email address as well.
I've actually got your George's baptism details from when I made my queries:
Jan 7 1838 George s/o Thomas & Mary Tice of Yateley, labourer.
The only sibling I have is:
Nov 19 1836 Mary Ann who was baptised privately and was buried on Dec 13 1836.
There may be more - I'm sure the Society will be able to help.
Also, I think it highly likely that, a couple of generations back, you may be connected to a William Tice baptised 1749 who was the older brother of my greatx5 grandfather Benjamin Tice.
Good luck, Jill

thanks for trying everything Bearkat - I'll just have to keep looking!
thanks for the marriage details Nell, what a fab name Mary had!
Hi Jill, researching for my step-father and finding the TICE lot very interesting. I'll go n check out the website you mention and will be happy to share what I have. You certainly seem to have a lot of knowledge of the TICE family and if you want more I'm happy to pass on what I have to you too!
Thanks everyone,
Ian.

from bearkat's 1851 info I speculate so far:

~Mary (Ann?) c1843 (Emsworth, Hants or Sandhurst, Berks) - ? m? 1860 to John George LOTON or LOWTEN (Havant Reg. Dist) off-spring: 9 children in 1881
Charles Claude TICE c1846 (Sandhurst) – 1915 (Easthamstead Reg. Dist.) m. 1873 to Emma Maria GREGORY of Yateley (Farnham Reg. Dist.) off-spring: Amy Amelia 1874, *Minnie M. 1878, **Charles C. 1881
Alfred TICE c1849 (Sandhurst) - ? m. 1871 to Emma Louisa GODDARD (Easthamstead Reg. Dist) off-spring: Lavinia Edith H. 1874, Rowland 1878
*Minnie M. TICE m. 1919, William FRANKLIN **Charles C. TICE m. ? Jane Elizabeth NOVELL ? issue: Charles C. TICE c1911 Florence A. TICE c1914

The 1861 census shows another son, Lewis, aged 9 and born in Sandhurst.

Going backwards:
Thomas Tice b 12 Feb baptised 15 Mar 1807 in Yateley, parents William and Ann.
Sister: Frances Tice bapt 10 May 1816
maybe William Tice-Burroughs b 20 Jan bapt 9 Mar 1800 John Tice-Burroughs b 28 Feb bapt 5 Apr 1801 James Tice-Burroughs b 11 May bapt 13 Jun 1802 all baptised in Yateley with the parents William & Anne Tice-Burroughs.
A marriage eludes me.
