Hi,
I have been searching for my ggrandfather on the 1901 census. Joseph Henry Whitney b1897 Dudley. It seems that the Whitney's from Dudley are missing from almost all the census', i do have a marriage for him in Manchester in 1921 to Clara Briggs...could it be that the surname is maybe spelt differently? if so i have tried a couple of variations that gets me nowwhere!!

You might have to get that Cert to verify this possible ... seems a good candidate as the other birth in the 1896 - 1900 period was the Reginald also in the census ... interestingly also using middle name, as registered Albert Reginald ... and also George aged 6, was registered Cornelius George ...

Hi,
thanks for your help. Yes Cornelius Robert Whitney b1872 was Joseph dad who married Esther Norah Brassington. You have in fact hepled me a great deal now, as i can use their middle names for others to find on census'. I had in fact found Cornelius & his wife on the 1901 census on the assumption they were Josephs parents...Harry age 3 then is i pressume Joseph Henry, his brothers Cornelius George & Albert reginald.

I did have a marriage for  Elizabeth in Dudley in 1878 but i never delved in there wish i would have done now!! would have saved you from doin all the work thanks Wink
