hi
    i found a marriage between Florence warwick and henry Arnold 1920 Jul/Aug/seep at Edmonton vol 3a page 1692 on findmypast.com. when i go on ancestry.co.UK i can't find it, do anyone know why this is.

Hi

I think it is because findmypast have complete indexes whereas Ancestry do not at the moment.  Certainly it is much harder to find bmd records on Ancestry after 1900ish.

I just looked at Ancestry and it is there, top of the right hand page.

Warwick, Florence - Arnold - Edmonton - 3A - 1692

Ancestry does  have the complete set.

In Ancestry's own words:

About England & Wales, FreeBMD Marriage Index: 1837-1983
This database is a searchable, digitized version of the indices of civil registrations in England and Wales, reported quarterly to the General Register Office (GRO) in London. This index spans the years between 1837 and 1983. Approximately 50% of the names between 1837 and 1900 have been transcribed thus far. You need the information found in an original index to request a copy of a marriage certificate for the individual referenced.

ah, but as it says thats the FREEBMD Index thats maybe 50% transcribed.

Oh obviously that must be why if I put any marriage details for the 20th century ie my grandparents in 1937 into FMP it comes up and it does not in Ancestry!!!! Tongue Tongue Tongue
