i,o,w census lookup please

im seeking the movement of a joseph read born in whippingham,(nr cowes) on the i, o, w  hampshire, all i know is that he was born in 1931,

Sorry, Steve, is this 1931 or 1831?

The latest census that can be accessed is 1901, so no help there. 

If 1931, he may still be alive, and we don't actively look for those still living.

If 1831, where did the information come from?  All clues, however small, might help in the search.

Submitted records like this one need to be treated with caution - sometimes they have only guesswork to back them up.  Do you have any confirmation from later census records of his birthplace?

Read also has a number of variants: Read(e), Reed(e), Reid.  Have you any idea of his father's name or where he turns up later?  There is another (submitted) record for Ventnor also IOW, and a couple of others in Southampton and Portsmouth around the same time.

Whippingham parish records don't seem to include his baptism, but the family may have been non-conformist.
