They would probably only have married from approx 1919 and transcriptions of marriages for that period onwards are thinner on the ground than in earlier years

If you have already looked on freebmd and not found them - You will need to search the full GRO index  which is available at your nearest main library if you live in the UK.  It can also be searched online if you have an Ancestry subscription or at www.findmypast.com which is a paysite

Re: children.  The mothers maiden name is shown alongside birth entries so once you have established who they married, you will need to search the births on the GRO index for entries with those particular maiden names

Hi Theresa

I had a look at the Dagenham parish church marriage registers and found this;

21st December 1912    Joseph Thomas Eberhardt age 23, Bachelor, Barge Builder of Barking.
Alice Amelia Bowtell age 24, Spinster of Dagenham.

Fathers names are Joseph Benjamin Eberhardt,  Barge Builder and Alfred George Bowtell, Farmer/Labourer.

Witnesses were Alfred George Bowtell and Louisa Laura Bowtell.

Hope this helps!  Smiley

I have just started researching my family history, you may be interested to know that my grandfather was born Arthur Frederick Eberhardt.
This may not be the same person that you are interested in but from other family members i am aware that he had an elder brother named Joseph.
Arthur Frederick Eberhardt is shown in the 1901 census living in Dagenham with an elder brother named Joseph.
I can't prove that this person is my grandfather so i have ordered a copy of his wedding certificate to assist my search.

Terry,
Came across this message then came across you again when I was searching in LDS for a birth for Susan Spooner, daughter of William Spooner.
Today I was researching a remote branch of my tree and came across a William J Eberhardt who married an Annie Mitchell in 1915.  I then found some more of these Eberhardts from census information. 'My' William's father was a bargebuilder too.
Seems too much of a coincidence!. I am only just adding this family to my tree now. If you would like somew more detail, please contact me at terry.stewart@talktalk.net

PPS I see another coincidence - I am Terry too!!

Hi Terry, Hi Terry (USA)

There is a picture of Susan Spooner's great grandson William Derek Everard at the link below.
I'm currently looking into his line from Susan's marriage to Frederick Thomas Eberhardt's (my great grandfather's elder brother).
I'm on the trail of their burial place at the moment but have had a couple of false leads it now looks like it could be Greenhithe near Dartford.
I would be very interested to know a liitle about your family connection.
