I'm trying to find the parents of a Mary Jane PROUT who married a Mark Blake in Q1 1861 in the Truro area.

I'm told that Mary Jane was 32 in the 1861 census, so that would make her birth 1838/1839. She was born St Teath or thereabouts.

I would like to know her parents were.

Any help appreciated.

If Mary Jane was 32 in 1861 she was born about 1829 not 1839. Have you tried looking for her in the census? Cornwall Census is Free Online  Wink

Come on Dave, engage brain.....

What I should have said that she 21 in the 1861 census, hence the 1838/39 ish for the birth.

The 1861 census gives the birth place as St Teath.

Just checked myself and note:

She appears to be the first child of Thomas and Maria

Mary Jane PROUT was baptised 24 Nov 1839 St Teath parents Thomas and Maria

Possible Marriage

Thomas Colman PROUT = Maria NORTHEY Mar 1/4 1839 Bodmin 9 49

I am not having any luck with a baptism for Thomas who by the census was born about 1816 but it certainly looks like you may have a connection to our junket  Wink

Hi Junket,
I think we are related, I have Mary Jane Prout who married a Mark Blake and had a son Samuel Blake born 15JUN1863 at Gassows, Kenwyn. He subsequently immigrated to NZ where he married a Margaret Nairn and had 11 children by this marriage.
I have a reasonable amount of info going forward but very little in the past other than what Dave has been able to supply me.
Mary Jane would have been my GG Great Grandmother.
Would love to hear more if you have it.
