Hi
I'm looking for any information on Robert James Cook, who died of wounds on 11/11/1918 and is buried in the churchyard of St. Lawrence's in Winslow. I have the stuff from the CWCG and Soldiers Died, I'm particularly looking for the names of his parents.

Hi, Ancestry.co has army service records for a Robert Charles Cook b c 1896, address given as Market Square, winslow, Bucks. There are several pages and include that he was a gardener, his next of kin(father) was Charles Robert Cook, that he died of wounds 11/11/1918 in a hospital in Oxford. His belongings were to be sent to Mrs M K? Cook , Market square, Winslow. Quite a bit of information on his service record too. Hope this may be of help Best wishes cathy

Hi again, looking further into the records it states Robert was born in Barton?, Suffolk and there is also a letter from his father on headed notepaper C R COOK & SON, GROCERS AND DRAPERS, Wheathampstead. So Rambler has hit the nail on the head. Robert Charles Cook sounded a very brave man, as were so many. Best wishes Cathy

Hi Cathy & Rambler
Thanks for the info, that looks like the man. Have now been able to see his records on Ancestry at the library, they are quite hard to decipher, but very interesting. You are right Cathy when you talk about his bravery, it looks like he was wounded more than once, could even be three times, I'm still trying to get to grips with the writing and time line.
Once again thanks for your help.
Regards
Ian C
