Annie Isabel MORRIS - married 1912 Exeter
« on: Tuesday 22 April 08 01:16 BST (UK) »

Hi everyone ...it's me  Grin

Okay I have found people all over for everyone ...now it's me that's a little stumped!  Undecided I have traced lots of my family usually through the male line  but today I received a marriage cert.

Okay .... this is it ... and please don't search the Middletons as I have their stuff.

William Skinner Middleton = Annie Isabel Morris
6 feb 1912, exeter.
witnesses: James Middleton ...William's dad
Aubrey R Foote ,,,have no clue who he/she is

William Skinner is an accountant and b 1872 1882...he died 29 Mar 1818 , France ! Cry ( 7th battalion , SLI)
Annie Isabel is 26, spinster living Red Cow village (as was William Skinner Middleton), her dad was George Morris a gardener. ( she later remarried)

This is my problem .... My granddad , William George Middleton was born 1908 ...registered in Berkshire , Reading by his mother ...
Mother= Annie Isobel Morris
father= William Skinner Middleton

so they had him 4 years before they married . William Skinner Middleton was not deployed anywhere as far as I know. I have no idea where Annie Isabel Morris was born as I cannot find a birth circa 1876 1886 ...there are 2 possibles but not circa 1876 in Devon/ Somerset/ Berkshire...

I have searched 1881 for an Annie Isobel Morris with dad , George in Devon/Somerset/Berkshire ... no luck

am I just missing it ... ??

I am going nuts ...please help LOL

Hi Deb!

Have you looked for Middleton's service record for any insight?  I'm afraid that is about all I have to offer since I don't have access to UK sources.

I guess I would look on 1891 & 1901 UK census for any Ann* Morris with father George who was a gardner.

Luck!

Aubrey Foote was the son of Albert and Fanny, aged 2, in Exeter in 1881. Albert FOOTE married Fanny S CURME, Sep qtr 1866, Bridport. They were both from Dorset according to 1881. He may have just been the best man, and not necessarily related. Albert FOOTE was an accountant, and its possible Aubrey was as well, and worked with William MIDDLETON

Hi Annie

I have absolutely no clue .... Is this insane or what ??

I have no idea where she was born....On the marriage cert ...there is nothing re; George, her dad , except that he was a gardener. It does not state deceased .

Is this nuts or what ...?

Okay so was Annie Delbridge with George Morris prior ... Oh my ..I am so tired ... I need to go to bed ....  It looks good so far ... I would have to find annie's birth cert to confim .

If William Skinner Middleton died and I have his record/medal jacket ...why is there no service record .... Annie ... I know we have been down this route before ...but if the men died in WW1 why is there nothing other than the commeration stuff?

deb ... You guys are fab ..thanks so much

In a nutshell Deb .... most of the records were destroyed in the Blitz in WW2 !!

there are some ... and they are bringing more and more of them out .... but we have to wait and see if your William Skinner Middleton is in the "burnt " records !!

How about going for the marriage record of - Annie J. Colston (formerly Middleton), of 2, Baynards Place, Truro.?
