OPR difficult to read (James DAVIDSON)
« on: Saturday 16 May 09 22:01 UTC (UK) »

I have attached a clip from an OPR (1843)  for the death of James Davidson in Dundonald but I cannot decipher the name of the house.  It looks like Gett House.  Is there (or was there) a Gett? House in Dundonald?  Is that what the writing says?  I am looking for a James Davidson that was married to Mary Craig.

It could be yett house  Undecided I think yett is an archaic term for gate.

Actually today there is a street/road/avenue called Winehouse Yett in the area in question. Possibly a common term in the day and supposedly now as well  Smiley
