marriage in Thanet, Kent
« on: Tuesday 22 April 08 13:58 BST (UK) »

hi all.

Is there someone out there who can access the parish records for this area please.

I'm wanting to know who the father of Percy C Day is on a marriage record. He married Margaret Cocks in the third quarter of 1912 in Thanet.(2a 2339) These are all the details that I have.

If anyone could find it for me, please could I have the name of his father and the witnesses.

Thank you,

Jen

Hi Jen

Sorry I don't have details of the marriage but can add that the ref. T26 on the Kent Registration Services site refers to, as far as I am aware, marriages that took place in the parish church of St Paul, Ramsgate.

Thanks, I will make a note of that.

Im being a bit of a cheapskate trying to find out the info this way rather than sending for the certificate, but Ive got so many wrong ones I can't afford to keep sending for them on the off chance they are the correct ones.

Hopefully if someone is going to the local archives they will be kind enough to do a look up for me.

Well the church will definitely help if somebody is able to offer a lookup otherwise there would probably be a choice of up to, say, about 30 different churches and chapels plus the possiblity of a registry office wedding Wink

as he was presumably around for the 1901 census, might be worth a delve to see if he's obvious in Ramsgate area - course they might have moved into the area between 1901 and 1912 ...  Wink

Theres a Percy C. boarding with the Millers at 5, Ellington Terrace in 1901 Ramsgate.

He's a 20 year old Pawnbrokers Asst, born Egerton (West Ashford Regn District)

FreeBMD shows a Percy born 1881 West Ashford District, but middle name is Alfred  Roll Eyes

Hi all,

My bet is on this boy

Charles Percy Day
Mar 1881
West Ashford  2a 768

Age 2 months in 1881:
http://search.ancestry.co.uk/cgi-bin/sse.dll?db=uki1881&indiv=try&h=8300606
RG11/944 53 2

By 1891 he's Percy, but Thomas and Sarah are now his grandparents so I suppose that's where Jen's problem lies  Undecided

Hi Tati - saw that, still wrestling with the Alfred name .....  Roll Eyes  seems to be in the family too ..

I think you've got it !

Sadly, I cant see this research negating the need for the Parish Register lookup or acquiring the Cert ?

Hi all, thanks for the replies.
Tati,I think that  he is the one, he was with his grandparents on the census. I think his mother is Emily, the eldest daughter of Thomas and Sarah and he was born illegitimately, hence having the name Day, BUT, he could also be the son of their eldest son Thomas who was my 2 xGT Grandfather. The other two children with Thomas and Sarah on the 1891 are the younger Thomas's children, and the only children that up until now we were aware of.

Like I said in an earlier post I can't afford to keep sending for certs , and that is why I requested a look up.

Thanks again,

Jen.
