John Parvin b 1811-Sandhutton-Thirsk
« on: Tuesday 22 April 08 21:25 BST (UK) »

Hi all

Another Parvin researcher as got me going with my own Parvins tonight LOL!!!!!

Heres what I have

JP married Elizabeth Pallister/Pallicer in Thirsk in 1850-John was a Widow and Elizabeth was a spinster

1871-Cencus -Sand Hutton-JP b 1812 Newsham-Yorkshire
1861- Cencus -Sandhutton JP b 1815 Sandhutton(indexed as Piven)
1851 Cencus-Sandhutton-JP b 1812 Newsham(indexed as Parring)

The 1851 cencus has 2 children on it
Thomas 9 b Sandhutton
William 7 b   Thirsk.

Years ago someone sent me some info(through the post not Rootschat) saying that these boys were Johns from his first marriage..but having pondered this for years Ive got it in my head that maybe Thomas is Johns son from his first marriage but I think William could be Elizabeths son from a previous relationship..of course I dont know for sure its just their places make me think it is......I also know that because of their ages I need their birth certs!!!!!

Now I just cant find John anywhere in 1841..its not through lack off not trying as ive tried every which way and more..can anyone suggest any more ideas.....Elizabeth is with her father Thomas in 1841.

Ive never found a birth for JP on IGI but I think he was the chritened at Kirby Wiske in 1812-Father Thomas-Mother Hannah...Hannah is on the 1841 cencus with a son Mathew(indexed as Piver)

Any help finding JP on the 1841 or even his 1st marriage Id be eternally grateful.....

Thanks

Jane

I'd made a note of your post as it was in parishes I'd need to check for my lot when visiting Northallerton. So hope some of this helps.
Didn't spot a baptism for Thomas c. 1842, but William was baptised in Thirsk 2/2/1844 illegitimate son of Elizabeth Palliser, Union Workhouse (one of 5 workhouse born baptisms that day). Also on the IGI batch C014962

There was a marriage in Sandhutton 10/7/1838 of John Parvin to Margaret Bradwell, both full age, both of Sandhutton. John's father given as Thomas Parvin (dead) stonemason, Margaret's father blank. Witnesses Matthew Parvin & Thomas Goodrick.  Can't find this marriage on the full GRO index.  Huh

Also in Sandhutton, a baptism for Hannah dau of John (labourer) & Margaret Parvin 19/5/1839 - on FreeBmd june qtr 1839 Thirsk vol 24 pg 458. No burial for either Margaret or Hannah in Sandhutton.

John's baptism in Kirby Wiske - first child, son of Thomas of Newsham stonemason and  Hannah, his wife. Born 5/9/1812 baptised 22/11/1812.
Matthew baptised 19/2/1814, son of Thomas & Hannah of Newsham.
George baptised 18/8/1816, natural son of Hannah.
Thomas Parvin married Hannah Butterfield 24/6/1811 Sandhutton IGI batch M105632.

There's a possible burial for Thomas in South Kilvington 31/3/1814 aged 38 - NBI not parish record.

Wow...Osprey..Im speechless..I dont know how to begin thanking you for all this info and for the effort you went to to get it..

Im so glad you found Johns 1st wife as it has bugged me for years.
I will have a look on the 1841 to see if I can see Margaret and Dau Hannah. John also had another dau Hannah with Elizabeth Palliser in 1852 who died age 5.
The Thomas Goodrick who was a witness at the wedding..Lives a door or too away from Mark Parvin and his mother Hannah on the 1841 cencus..

Ohhh so much to absorb..so much more to find out..

Thank you so very very much Osprey and if there is ever anything I can help you with at any time please dont hesitate to ask..I owe you one big style..

 Grin

If you get a chance to go to the record office in Northallerton, there are indexes for many of the parishes up to 1837, so if you know what parish you're looking for, it's not as much work as it might be in another archive. I checked the original for the baptisms to see if there was any extra info on George's - there wasn't. Sorry, didn't check the marriage, but with a date you can get a copy.

I've had a look online for deaths/burials for Margaret & Hannah, but the only one in the right area looks to be Hannah senior  - buried 18/2/1849 aged 71 at Sandhutton cum Carlton.

Wonder where they are in 1841?

Osprey..How am I ever going to be able to thank you enough for all this info its wonderful and I feel sure the 1841 entry of Pervin (I always knew I came from a strange family!! Shocked) is the right family and that the info I had about there being a Thomas b 1842 also seems correct but I had no Idea about the son John so Im going to have a look for him in the cencuses...he is not with his father on any other cencus so maybe Grandma Bradwell brought him up in Auckland after the death of his mother.

Thank you very much

Ive just realised that poor John and Margaret must have been terribly traumatised having one baby die and one born both in June q in 1840  Cry

How sad
