Ok, I have found the marriage of Ivy Lilian WARD (father George WARD) March quarter 1920 Chatham St Mary and a corresponding baptism ................ well sort of

Ivy Lilian WARD baptised 25 Feb 1903 (born 3 Feb 1903) dau of George & Emily of White Hart Cottages, Brook - rigger.  The complete entry has been crossed through with the word cancelled.

So we can deduce that George & Emily were probably married prior to February 1903.  I found a marriage at St Mary Chatham in 1902 but I don't know if it's them or not - there were so many WARD families about Undecided

2 Feb 1902 St Mary Chatham

George WARD 30 bachelor able seaman of HMS Challenger son of John WARD deceased gentleman

Emily CLARKE 21 spinster of HMS Challenger (no father given)

Both signed and witnesses Laura OLVER & Thomas WARD

So was Emily a CLARKE rather than a LEE as you thought or is this not their marriage?  I've been having a look round on the census (I found this earlier) but couldn't see anything conclusive for any of them (just in case they are your gt grandparents) Undecided

I'm wondering if you'd do better to get Dorothy's birth certificate to confirm her mother's maiden name Undecided
