I wonder what happened - Why is he a maniac? In 1851 if this is him, he is in Middlesex
HO107/1538/348/7 6 Silvurian Terrace Shoreditch Middlesex
PRATER Joseph Head 28 Mar b Crantock Carpenter Journeyman PRATER Jane Harriet Wife 22 Mar b St Lukes Middlesex
Now in 1841 in Crantock we either have 2 Joseph Prater's aged 15 (Male Servant's) or one working at 2 different places in Crantock one at Pentire and one at Churchtown Do you know if there are two? I am only seeing the one in 1851. Best I recheck the baptisms and make sure............Kris

Getting worried, when it's in both sides of the family, though............. lol.
I have Josiah, son of Josiah and Elizabeth carrivick Jenkin. siblings, if my research is correct .. Hannah Christiana Andrew Richard Jenkin Thomas William Elizabeth Carrivick
William, married a Sarah Abrahams and after she died, he married an Eliza / Elizabeth and here is another little interesting tibit ........................
JACK THE RIPPER A CAST OF THOUSANDS BY CHRISTOPHER SCOTT (c) 2004 Elizabeth Prater
Elizabeth Prater was a witness at Mary Jane Kelly's inquest and lived in the room above Kelly in Miller's Court at the time of the murder. Prater's story is a complex one in that she had had children by at least two different men and lived intermittently with her husband, William Prater. It also appears that her birth name was Eliza and not Elizabeth

Be Ware junket - It is all around you. You will have to find out what happened.
OK I have rechecked the PR's and there is a Joseph son of Francis and Elizabeth 4 June 1820. If one is him then in 1841 he should be listed as aged 20 not 15, and we have two 15 year olds.............If there are two the other one must be somewhere in 1851, still the census and burial age do fit with 1823.........................Kris
Oh rightyo junket - will see how he ages

OK junket,
Yes that looks OK. He stays Joseph and gives an age to match well with Francis's son. Back to the drawing board - Josiah must be somewhere.
Your baptism date is wrong btw - I am sitting here looking at the entry
Joseph PRATER 4 June 1820 parents Francis and Elizabeth father shoemaker of Halwyn itp.........Kris

I've got a fair idea of what happpened to him ................. he decided one day, to discover his Prater roots. He asked those nearest to him, who had no idea, he asked firther afield and he was bedazzled by numerous theories, none of which had definite sources of information and he went insane ..............lol
I know, because it happens to Cornish Prater descendants researching their line back to Wiltshire............

I don't have details of that couple, sorry Kris.
I do a bit now and again on these Praters, but they do give us headaches, especially, when we go back to William, who died in 1647 and try to link him to Nunney and Wiltshire.
I enjoyed those Buckthoughts, so much more..........

Couldn't find any more on the 1846 marriage unfortunately.
Been Having a read of Elizabeth and the Jack the Ripper Case.
http://www.casebook.org/official_documents/inquests/inquest_kelly.html
Marriage lists her as Eliza WICKES Sep 1/4 1873 Shoreditch 1c 258.
Seems William returned, they are together in 1891.
You certainly have some interesting people in your tree.......Kris

Yes Kris, it does make good reading. That bit of info., came from a Prater cousin descended from William, ( she is on here, but I can't remember her name on here ).
Yes toni, you have remembered correctly, will have to check his name though. ( William, Francis and Thomas were the family names ... ).
Thank you for that bit of information. I hadn't heard of this and would like to know more, if possible please.
