1871 Frederick Seeley Jervis

I am looking for the descendents of Frederick Seeley Jervis b 1846 in Stoke on Trent and living with his parents in 1861 in Harts Hill Stoke on Trent. He had some unusaully named siblings:
William Percival Jervis, Eliza Bridges Jervis, Mary Hemans Jervis and Charlotte Elizabeth Jervis.

I cannot find him in the 1881 census or the others apart from William P, and there doesn't appear to be a death which could be his.

I would appreciate it if someone could find him in the 1871 census or later to see if he married and had offspring.

I only looked in Cheshire after you found the marriage there!

Cheshire bmd also has Lucy Mary Lamb marrying James Leonard - the alternative couple for the marriage you found in Nantwich, so it looks as if the Charlotte Elizabeth/Fred Seeley marriage is the correct one. (why Nantwich/Crewe I wonder)


I found a Charlotte E Gregory in the 1861 census born c1846 Exeter Devon living with family in Newcastle under Lyme Staffs, but not sure if this would be her, was looking to see if I could find a year/place of birth to help find her in 1871, but the death you found for Charlotte looks very possible, given that we can't seem to find them in 1871 census.

Well ... there is a family that resembles the one we are looking for in Cheshire in 1871 - except that the father William is now a platelayer instead of a bookkeeper, as in 1851 and 1861.

Do you know if the whole family went up there, Graham?

Which family?

Frederick's parents are still in Staffs, Shelton in 1871, father Wm a cashier as he was in 1861

The family I found with Charlotte Gregory 1861 are still in Newcastle u Lyme in 1871 minus Charlotte

Still looking for Frederick in 1871, and rest of family except for William P in 1881
(I think!)

Have to leave you to it, off for lunch, hope Graham comes back soon with some thoughts.  Wonder if that was Charlotte's death then, and maybe Frederick emigrated, I can't see a death for him anywhere, and he hasn't gone to live with his inlaws in 1881, and can't find his parents in 1881 tho there are several possible deaths for them in Stoke area

Gosh looks a bit of a problem I have set.

I also had the marraiges of Amelia Constance and Mary Hemans in Cheadle and William Percival married also in Cheadle so I though that the family may well have moved to Cheadle by 1871 and it is possible that the Frederick L Jervis is a mistranscription of Frederick S Jervis. The strange thing is that there is no marraige or death record of Frederick S (or L) Jervis in Freebmd.
