Hi,

I am doing a one-name study of the Rossiter family and am looking for information please about the parents, grandparents, siblings and children of Amelia Rossiter, who married William Bryant on October 11th 1813 at Little Bedwyn, Wiltshire.

Any information would be greatly appreciated please. TIA.

I'm puzzled as to why you have asked for an 1841 census lookup for Amelia Rossiter

If she married in 1813, any census entry would be as Bryant as would any of her children

Her parents/grandparents would be long dead by 1841 and any female siblings would probably be married and under different surnames

Although she married in Wiltshire - was she born there?

Hi Carole,

Thanks for your post. I asked for the post for a couple of reasons.

Firstly, I don't have a rough year of birth for Amelia, which the census would give me.

Second, as Rossiter families re-cycled Christian names and mothers' surnames the names of the Bryant children may give some clue to Amelia's parents and siblings.

Third as you pointed out, she was married in Wiltshire but may have been born elsewhere so the census would give some clue to that even though it is limited to in or out of county.

Fourth, with that info I can check it against Rossiters already in my database in the hope of a match.

All I have done is to post the only piece of information I had in the hope that it will lead to other info on which I can build.

Hope that helps.

Best wishes

Hi alli,

Hope all is well with you.

Thanks for the info.

Looks like they may have moved from Wiltshire as I found this:-

Does that help?

Hi alli,

Thanks for that.

Amazingly I have found Amelia and her parents ( Abraham Rossiter & Susannah Worm) in my database. They married in April 1790 at St John's, Frome but it appears that Amelia was an only child unless you know differently.

Abraham died before 1806 so it's possible there could be siblings unless of course Susannah died first!! LOL!!

Best wishes

Hi alli,

Thanks for that.

The Abraham who married Susannah was born circa 1753 but the Abraham who married Harriet Willis was born circa 1798, as far as I know.

The Abraham who married Harriet was the son of James and Ann Rossiter. James was a custom officer, but I have no further details about Ann.

Best wishes
