Hello Jlookin,

Hugh Goldie, and Margaret Smart, were married 13/Sep/1846. Bothwell, Lanark, they had 9 childrens births registered from 1855.

William Archibald Goldie, born 13/July/1869. Shotts, Lanark,
Thomas Smart Goldie, born 04/May/1857. Shotts, Lanark,
Hugh Goldie, born 16/March/1855, Shotts, Lanark,
Matthew Russell Goldie, born 25/Aug/1867, Shotts, Lanark,
Elizabeth Martin Goldie, born 30/May/1859, Shotts, Lanark,
Archibald Sloan Goldie, born 07/Sep/1865, Dalry, Ayr,
Elizabeth Martin Goldie, born 14/July/1863, Dalry, Ayr,
Andrew Martin Goldie, born 26/Jul/1861, Dalry, Ayr,
Alexander Goldie, born 26/oct/1871, West Calder, Midlothian.

You will notice there were two Elizabeth Martin Goldie's, perhaps the first one died and the second was named after her.

Thanks for that John! lots of info for me to mull over.  re Elizabeth Martin Goldie brn 14th July 1863 we have Elizabeth Martin Smart born Dalry 5th April 1863 she died 25th June 1922 Armadale West Lothian. The line of Smarts' who I am working on appear to have moved between Lanarkshire & Ayrshire frequently before settling in N Lanarkshire permanently.
