He was married to Caroline (no maiden name) born 1830 Ottery St Mary, Devon
Their children were

John 1859
Jessie 1864

   In the 1871 census it has Williams dob down as 1828 instead of 1818 so this is

  why his age is the same in 61 and 71.  All other dates etc seem to fit Smiley
