Hi,
I have a copy of a will written in 1818 by an ancestor living in Bristol. She leaves a small amount of money to her sister 'Mary of Aston'.
I feel sure this Aston must be in Gloucestershire because this is where I have found most of my ancestors. However, looking at various maps, I have found:
Aston Blank Aston Cross Aston Magna Aston on Currant Aston Subedge
Does anyone have any idea which of these would be referred to as just 'Aston' in 1818.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Sue

Hi Patrish,
Thanks for that info - never realised there were so many. Sometimes place names can be as confusing as ancestors names!

Hi Pam,
Thanks for that - I suppose I am being a bit blinked assuming that it is in Gloucestershire just because I have found the rest of the family there. I shall have a look at Birmingham. Thank you

Don't forget to consider the possibility that it was Ashton ...
(half-joking: there is an Ashton near the Clifton suspension bridge!)
Kind regards, Arranroots

Thank you Arranroots, I will but it is very clearly written as Aston - but the scribe has made other spelling mistakes.
I will check it out though
Thank you
