Hope someone out there can help clear up this mystery. George Craig Sr. m. Janet Paterson Apr. 21,1811, in Hamilton. They had 3 children that I know of. James b. May 12,1816. Robert b.Aug. 26 1820 George b.Nov. 16 1828.
In the 1841 census George Jr. ( handloom weaver) then 12 years of age, was living with Mary King. It said she was born abt.1774 in Hamilton.
A Mary King m. Robert Patersen Aug. 5,1781. Hamilton. Could Janet Patersen be their daughter? George Sr. was my gggrandfather.
Are these 2 Mary,s the same person, the dates don,t seem to add up. Or are they mother and daughter. I know that married women often used there maiden name and especially if they were widowed.
My father and uncles maintained that one of their grandmothers or greatgrandmothers maiden name was King.
Hope to find an answer to this.
Grandma.
