Does anybody have access to passenger arrivals to Cape Town around c1894-1898
Barbara McPherson born Scotland married Robert Alexander Anderson [d.o.b etc unknown] his occupation was a was a tailor.
They were married Cape Town, South Africa. Barbara was supposed to be 20 years old.
1898 they are in Calcutta/ Bombay India for he birth of my relative Elizabeth Barbara Anderson born 30 June 1898 [one document says Calcutta the other Bombay] Bengal, India Why would a tailor be in South Africa and India in that period?
Look forward to any ideas. Suzy

Thank you so very very much! I have spent 15 years trying to resolve this family and bingo from a few hours on rootschat.
They all [except Robert Alexander the father and son Frederick] ended up immigrating to New Zealand in 1922.
Now the question is why would they have been married in Cape Town South Africa.......or were they..... as they had a child in Edinburgh?
Could you look and see if Barbara's father George McPherson was in the Army for me please, he was born 1844 R & C Scotland. Never been able to find him from 1881 on either, I did find a possible death for his wife.... ONLY.....yesterday on board 'Saint Margaret' merchant shipping list from Liverpool. Thank you so very much again, what a team! Suzy
Would there be a Colin Anderson b circa 1909 and a Sheila Anderson born c 1911-12 that then will give me all the family and more clues as to when they returned to Eng /Scotland.
Would Robert Alexander have died in India?
Thank you so much for your time and expertise Suzy
jorose I have now been able to obtain birth certificate for the Florence C Anderson b Edinburgh...thanks to your response! Robt and Barbara married 1895 Cape Town S.Africa. Robert was a seargent in the Royal Highlanders, he was present at at registration for the birth. It amazes me how they moved about so much in those times! Just thought I would fill you in! Suzy
