Drabble of Letwell
« on: Thursday 24 April 08 09:39 UTC (UK) »

Does anyone have the Drabbles in their line?  I am interested to know who the parents of Richard Kay Drabble of Letwell are....I do not have access to on-line censuses unfortunately.

sorry been looking to see where Letwell is, I have never heard of it, I had a quick look on Genuki

"LETWELL, in the parish of Saint John's, upper-division of Strafforth and Tickhill, liberties of St. Peter and Tickhill; 5½ miles SW. of Tickhill and Worksop, (Notts.) 9 from Rotherham.

This would tie in with the marriage and births, only way to confirm is to order some certificates - oh no more money!! Grin

Thanks for all your help.  Drabble /Jepson is certainly the line. Also Richard as a baby on 41 would fit.  I had seen the 1881 census so information came from there.

So Barnet and Alice Unwin are parents.    The "Kay" middle name of Richard must have come thru the family as well.  You have all been really, really helpful.  Thank you.  You're all great!!!

sandra

Richard Kay Drabble is my great grandfather his name Kay come from his grandmothers name who was Ann Kay. This method of using the grandmothers surname is something that occured again in Richards grandson who was called Josephen Jepson Drabble being named after his wife Dinah Jepson.

Hope this helps
