Looking for any information on a marriage of Robert Wilson & Helen Pottie about 1876/80 and daughter Mary Gunning Wilson about 1876/81, Mary and/or family may have moved to Galashiels by 1899 where she married a Isaac Baille Brown.

Mary is also listed on Scotlands People. Born 1881, St Peter, Dundee as Mary Gunnings Wilson.

Both of these records can be seen and downloaded from the site for 6 units each (£1.20)

I don't see them together in Dundee in 1881 . There are 2 Helen Pottie - b.c. 1875 and 1875 but in Fife.

If you downloaded the marriage cert, you would have some ages and  occupation to go on. Wilson is not the easiest to find without a place of birth or age. I know - I have a Robert Wilson in my tree  Undecided

I did a search on the IGI and this definitely looks like Robert:

Robert Gunnings Wilson, born 12th November 1859 Bothkennar, Stirlingshire - parents William W & Mary Gunnings

Searches for a Helen Pottie only show results in Fife, one born 1858 and the other 1867 (too young).

Quite a few results for Pettie births around the time - variants are Peddie/Peattie/Pattie. I think, Beckey, you'll need to get that certificate for Helen's parents. Wink

Thank you everybody for your input.

Had tried various census and was getting too many hits the same as my message for Kilmarnock and already had a few miss hits on "scotlandspeople" .
Will now try again with the info.

Only started this after a contact with the Brown side and found that he was descended from the brother of my wife's maternal gt grandmother.

Have obtained certs.  though the Gunning wasn't mentioned with Robert the parents agree with both parties, that clears another problem.
