Can anyone identify the church on the attached photo please.

I believe the photo was taken around the 1920s in the Elgin area.

Any help with this would be much appreciated.

Betty

Hi Betty
I've never posted before but I've lurked loads.
I live in Elgin and both my husband and l believe that the church is the one at St Andrews Lhanbryde.  I'm not sure what the church is called as l have only been there once a few years ago.
I could be wrong but it does look familiar.
Hope that helps.

Hi Debbie

That's brilliant.  St. Andrews, Lhanbryde would certainly fit in with the area as the people I am researching lived at Urquhart.

Much appreciated.

Debbie

Stop lurking and get in here with the rest of us. It's much more fun than sitting on the outside looking in!

Cheers,

both my husband and l believe that the church is the one at St Andrews Lhanbryde.

This http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/121244 is a recent photo of st Andrews-Lhanbryd Parish Kirk. It lacks the two 'minaret' things and there is no graveyard alongside it, so I don't think it's that one.

It's not Urquhart Parish Kirk either - see http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/80611

Hi

Thanks for your reply and info.

You have just confirmed what I was thinking.

I didn't think it was Urquhart but was not sure about St. Andrews as I had not found such a good photo.   Your photo confirms it is not the same church.

Thanks for your time.
