Hi folks,

Only have a few minutes computer time on a borrowed computer. I'm now in Canberra and photographing the Roll of Honour with Alfred and Charlie's names is high on my list of "must dos".

Wow.....many thanks Diddy and everyone ......great to quickly catch up on what has been happening.

Sorry I have no time to write more.....

Dee,

Did you get time to look inside the War Memorial (I think that's what it's called)?.

It really takes you back in time.

Enjoy your holiday.

Just had another chat with Derek. he is going to send me a picture of Alfred Parrs grave and wants me to put it on here.
Also he has benn looking at the info he has on Archibald and John the twins.

he knows they were in the Durham light Infantry and were then transfered to the labour corps as they were not fit to fight. they were then given a new regiment number. Derek knows that Archibald sadly ended his days in carlton heyes mental Hospital and died there in 1964. The family used to visit him.
john victor seems to have disappered.

dreek also told me about Mabel Barber who was on the census with Elizabeth and Charles.

Charles married 3 times:
1.  sarah Jane ? and had children
2.  Sarah jane Barber and had mabel. After 1 year Sarah died and Charles was left with the infant.
3. Elizabeth.

Alfred Parrs medal is in the Carillion Memorial in loughborough, just inside the door. Derek had visited previously wanting to leave a picture but is now hoping with the renewed interest in Loughborough that this will be possible.

Hi Diddy

That is great.

When I visited the Carillion and asked about the Parrs and Newbons they said there
was no information about them whatsoever there.  Sad

Certainly they do not seem to know Alfred's medal was there.

It is one of the best museum in such a small place I have ever seen though.

Obviously as Derek knows maybe he could inform them before he visits again to

ask the staff (all volunteers) to inform others so they can see it also.

I did buy a book though that noted all the war dead on the panels it was only £1.

Look forward to seeing the picture.

Sandy

Hi Diddy

Would these be the Medal Cards for Archibald and John?
