Gee you guys are great - my daughter pinched the PC for a while and when I claim it back I find all this great detective work!

I thought you may be at a loose end on Anzac day with all the shops closed  Grin and knowing how much you all like the thrill of the chase .... hence my posting ..

It might be worth sending the findings to the newspaper  Cheesy

Hope this isn't going to interupt your flow but with regard to Alfred John Parr, from the 1901.

RG13/2977/11 page 13 Loughborough Leicester

Charles Newbon 45 born Easton Northants
Elizabeth A Newbon 32 born Beeston Notts
James W Newbon 20 born Beeston Notts
Mary E Newbon 15 born Beeston Notts
Alfred, Archibald & John Parr ages 7, 3 & 3 respectively all born Loughborough Leicestershire.
Mabel Barber dau aged 5 born Loughborough. Huh
Charles Newbon aged 3mths Loughborough

Free BMD has the marriage of Elizabeth A Parr to Charles Newbon Mar qtr 1900 Loughborough 7a 158

This would explain the query on Alfred's Mother's name.

Also from Free BMD Elizabeth Ann Archer married John Parr June qtr 1891 Loughborough 7a 248

John Parr died June qtr 1899 Loughborough aged 30 7a 80.

Hope this goes some way to help.

Just modified my post, Smiley I missed out the son born to Charles & Elizabeth in 1901.

He might turn out to be important. Wink

No dee.....don't get excited. Grin   I am meant to be doing some office work....and then you threw down this challenge Grin

Now have had a quick browse of the electoral rolls.  Alfred John was a carpenter/joiner.  Found them at Maffra but have  them 1931 living at 98 Thomas Street, Hampton, with son John as teacher and at  11 Rusden Street, Elsternwick in 1936.

FORSTER
  Alfd John
Father Forster John Joseph
Mother Joyce  GAMBLE
Death Place BRIGHTON  74 years  1938  Reg# 2758

However all this info isn't really helping find any chn for Ada, Alice or John.

It could all help, Cando.....who knows........

Have found the marriage of the son of Alice May Forster and William John Clark. He married in 1940. But I have no way of finding any children for the couple at this stage.

I may have found the marriage of a second son to this couple. Will have to recheck the births........after I have had a shower and got myself dressed!  Grin  Grin  Grin

Hello all,

I've just sent an email to the Herald Sun to be forwarded to Kelly Ryan, the writer of the article. I sent her the link to this discussion which I hope she'll follow. I also asked her to forward the link to Nick Lynch, the owner of the letter.

Not too many Forster offspring emerging  Undecided

Going back to re-read ....

Great find there Dee!

From a marriage (or two) around 1940, there might very well be children, and children who are still alive!  Grin

Just had a thought ... perhaps these children may read the Herald Sun article and all your searching may be in vain. But at least it will be a happy outcome.  Smiley

Can you imagine being contacted out of the blue with (or reading in the National news about) a family find as interesting as this letter? I live in hope ....

Ruskie, what about putting a link to this thread on the "Are You Sitting Comfortably" thread
http://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php/topic,271385.555.html
and asking any of them who would like another challenge on ANZAC Day to join in on the English side in particular?

Maddie has made a great start, but with all the expertise they have had on that thread, there may be a couple willing  to help.........

Many people don't read the Australian board threads.........

I've got to take a break.....will get back to searching shortly......  Cheesy  Cheesy

I am not convinced by the two marriages I found. The name of the first is correct except the second name is given as Foster not Forster.

The same with the second marriage.

I've searched births in Victoria for the names with these spellings, but come up with nothing.
