I noticed that in the 1841 census, Charles still had a daughter Sarah Ann living with him. I thought it was sad that some of the children (at least the one we know about) got palmed off elsewhere. As a solicitor, I thought he'd have the means to provide for all of them.
I wouldn't have said 'palmed off' exactly, and he probably did provide for them, in 1851 Richard and Sarah Ann were living with their grandparents, landowners, Richard a merchants' clerk and Sarah Ann no occupation! - see reply #2 Can't see Charles in 1851 so maybe he died too
Alli, great, that looks like burials for Richard & Martha, the grandparents, in 1858 & 1859 Barbara

That's the same for Richard & Martha as I found, although i didn't have the burial info, only the year of death. I'm very interested to see what Sarah died of (if that appears on the certificate). You've all been wonderful little beavers helping me sift through & find them. Cheers!

Greetings, all! Received Sarah Poole's death cert in mail today. She certainly is the one I'm looking for - wife of Charles (Solicitor). She died of Chronic Inflammation of the Nerves. Interesting! Unfortunately, no mention of who her parents might be. But it's a start, now that I have a definite birth year!
