Chislet/Canterbury - Andrews

We are trying to find a thread back into our history Undecided  We can get back to a Thomas Andrews of Chislet (sometimes Chislett) born abt 1774 and died abt 1857.  He was living in Canterbury in 1841 with his wife, Mary Jennings from Fordwich, and their family.  However, we have had no luck with his parents or their marriage.  We have searched the church records at both Chislet and St Dunstan's Canterbury for any clues but have not managed to find anything concrete. 

Can anyone offer any ideas or avenues of attack that we may not be aware of?

Thank you for the lead, I will check the archives for that one.  Any thoughts on baptism records?  Were they rare for the general populous?

There are baptisms of several Thomas ANDREWS indexed on this site  Cheesy
