My wife's grandparents, Harriett Anderson married Jose de Silva in New Plymouth New Zealand in 1901.

I have been unable to track down her arrival in NZ. She was born in 1876

I see this marriage is listed on NZ index as ~

   Emily ANDERSON & Josa (sic) da SILVA - 1901  :

Seems this lady may have been known as "Emily"  ~  have you searched under that name also  ?

Also   ... any idea where "Harriet Emily / Emily" ANDERSON was born ?

Thanks for that - yes she was married as Emily but her children all knew her as Harriett, this of course could have been her second name but not shown on the marriage records. I am unsure where she was born as I have not seen the marriage certificate. Family rumours have her as Swedish and others say Scottish...

more family mysteries....
