Ian, I've already posted on your other lookup thread, but just in case thought I should repeat: I have masses of info on this family - far too much to post here, really, without boring the pants off everyone else!
But don't spend anything on certificates as I have the vast majority of what you need, together with lots of census refs and info. There are still one or two holes and mysteries that I hope we may solve between us, though!
The basics, though, are: Miriam Bagot Barnes's parents were William Wilson Barnes b 1853 & Elizabeth Cameron Hodgson (widowed - nee Murray) b 1851; her grandparents were Thomas Barnes bp 1816 & Agnes Hinde bp 1816; John Murray bp 1814 & Dinah Cameron bp 1817.
Thanks very much for this and the other thread. My email is ian.lambert@cw.com if you wish to correspond via this.
The Barnes connection is one I am helpng my sister-in-law's mother with. A bit distant I know but I enjoy this research! She is the granddaughter of a 'Marie' Baggot Barnes (formerly Ritson, according to her own father's birth certificate). Her father was a Burnly James Yearwood and his parents were this Marie Barnes & Burnly James Yearwood. There is an enigma here however in that Burnly James Yearwood (jnr) was born Jun 6th 1921 in Buxton Derbyshire (?), WHEREAS Hunter Ritson doesn't seem to have died until March Quarter 1922. I haven't found any children of Hunter & Miraim (Marie) or any Yearwoods anywhere yet either!!!
I am fairly sure that Marie & Miriam are one and the same. Our side of the family also seemd to think that the Ritson connection was to do with shipping but so far I haven't found any evidence at all of this. I look forward to hearing from you
