Hi Jackie,

Your John is there as McAlister.

There is a John McAllister 15 yrs with Mary 50 yrs, Archibald 12 yrs and Thomas 10 yrs. He is born Cumberland.

There is also a John McAlister 20 yrs b Cumberland. Father is Bernard born Ireland with wife Margaret born Cumberland and several other children.

That seems about it.

best wishes

The one with mother Mary was bap Harrington 1825. (IGI)

Of course, any number of John McA's could have crossed the water 1841-51   Shocked

I think Jackie has him in 1841 - I gave these others just for elimination purposes - hers looks like the only Irish born one.

Yes, I mentioned the Harrington baptism to assist elimination.

It's possible I am descended from John's brother Tom.  My ancestor's baptism gives the father as Patrick McALLISTER - but his marriage cert names his father as Thomas MACALISTER (dec).  Or he made it up.

Yes- I was thinking that sometimes it seems any place of birth/ or age/ or dad's name would suffice - all part of the fun  Huh

Hi

Thank you both very much, helping my cousin who seemed to think there was two Johns born Ireland about same age so that is a great help.

Will pass info on to him,

Hi again Geoff, and hi heywood.
