Yes thanks Pam.  Does it have place of birth for Mary?  I have other census records with one saying born Lanarkshire and another saying born England. I'm also unsure who the Thomas age 10 is so wondering if you can find records for sons Thomas born c 1819 who was a goldsmith or jeweller and William born c 1823 who was also a goldsmith apprentice in 1841 but haven't got any later records for him.  They were both born in Edinburgh.  Thomas age 30 was still at home with mother in 1851 so I suspect this child may be son of William.
Thanks for your help,
Best Wishes, Carmel

Thanks Pam.  That will be really great.  I have to give up for a while now also.  Need to get ready for a 2 hour car trip so won't get any more done today.

Thanks very much Pam
I'm fine with the details for William especially with the relative being born St Ninian's as Thomas and William's mother was from St Ninian's.
I don't know about Thomas though as there is also Thomas age 30 recorded as being with mother in Little Jack Close Canongate.   In 1841 Thomas was recorded as 20 and William as 15 both have occupation goldsmith and same address as in 1851.
I found details of the Thomas married to Euphemia on IGI with different parents. It is strange to have two of same name both goldsmiths so they must be related probably cousins.  I'm researching their mother's side so don't know more on McKenzie side.  There is another Thomas somewhere though as I have Thomas as a nephew informant on death cert of Mary McKenzie sister of William and Thomas and he is shown as 10 years old with grandmother in 1861 record that you found for me.  I think he may be the Thomas born 1852 to Thomas and Caroline as shown on IGI so if you can find them on 1861 census I'd really appreciate that.  Hopefully this is last time I modify this message.
Regards, Carmel

Thanks for your help Pam. Now I am confused.  This one is even more unlikely as place of birth incompatible with 1841 as well as age and occupation. I think I'll revert to the previous one - at least he is born Edinburgh, same work area and age does go back to what I thought it should be in 1871.  Maybe the other person researching has got wrong Thomas and maybe our Thomas was recorded twice in 1851 if he was visiting mother around time of census.
Best wishes, Carmel
