Frewin family in England
« on: Monday 28 April 08 06:22 BST (UK) »

I'm researching the Frewin family.
To date I have traced back to Thomas Henry Frewin c1797 who was born in Pyrton, Oxfordshire but have been unable to discover his parentage. Any info would be welcome.

What's the Essex connection?

You'll need the Pyrton parish registers. Oxon FHS publish a transcript.

James was apparently born in Rickling, Essex as were his children. I assume he was married there also. I'm doing this by remote control in Bathurst NSW Australia so I don't readily have access to the Parish records. I'll give them a try via internet.

Thomas Henry Frewin [c.1797] is the earliest Frewin I have been able to find. His son was Joseph James Frewin [1826], his grandson was also Joseph James Frewin [1858]. My father Lysle Ewart Frewin [1901] was Joseph James [2] son and I, James Frewin [1938], am the great great grandson of Thomas.
The "James'" name has been perpetuated further through me to my son and my grandsons.
