Hi Mrs Griff
Are the family in Bristol in 1841? Edit - added below
The record is extracted and shows eight children of the same parents baptised at the church between 1816 - 1831, two of them on the same day as Benjamin.
An internet search shows lots of "Church of God" churches - many of them came into being much later than 1816 though. They are mostly Pentecostal or Adventist but I don't know whether that means that the one you have is!
Sorry, not very hepful!
Kind regards, Arranroots
Edit: found these which seem to be the right family, although there are two very similar, only one with a Benjamin!
IGI parents = John Griffiths/ Mary Fox
HO107/377/5/17/29
John GRIFFITHS 47 smith Y Benj 22 do Y Mary 48 milliner?? Y Rachel 16 Y Mary Ann 7 Y
Crown Sq, ?? (near Hotwell Row), Clifton, Gloucestershire
Gives an idea of the area they were in in 1841 at least - might help identify the church?

Hello Arranroots , we might be on the right trail, this is the other info i have ,Benjamin's wedding cert Sept 1839 he marrys Anna Morgans ,his father John Griffiths Occ Smithy , her father John Morgans was a miner, they married at Llanhilleth , birth cert for their daughter Mary Ann DoB 1840 cant find them as a family in 1841 , have them in1851 living at Blaenavon he's working in the iron works, and there after , so is this my Benjamin with his parents in 1841 in Clifton but where is his wife & child ? Searching for Benjamin's mother and proof of his father seemed fruitless until i found a marriage 1818 at Llanwenarth, then discovered the christening of Benjamin at the Church Of God , So where do i go now to confirm my finding any suggestions .
Many Thanks for your help Mrs Griff

Hi again
What kind of churches have you associated the family with in Wales?
I kept searching last night but can't draw any conclusion about which church the "Church of God" refers to! Often workers had the same religious allegiance as their employer or benefactor, but I assume Benjamin was self-employed or worked for his father.
I would be tempted to contact the Record Office in Bristol to see if they have any ideas about the church.
Kind regards, Arranroots

Google gives quite a bit about the Church of God U.K. Might help to answer some of your question.
Regards
Chas
P.S. Looks like they might be Seventh Day Adventists.
P.P.S.
Oh no it wasn't
Find him in the IGI (an extracted entry therefore acceptable) and click on the Source Call - it the LDS film from which the info came - and you'll be given the church names. It was a Calvinistic Methodist church.

There are and have been lots of Church of God churches with different titles - most of them weren;t established until very recently though.
I had a look at the IGI source but didn't see the Calvinist bit - still a beginner with the IGI & find it all rather confusing!
That's great if you have cracked it though!
