I did download and tried to instaled the PAF.  It was sometime later when I thought that I would try again with the Gedcom  and I had no trouble.

I am having numerous things going wrong with AOL and have spent a very long time on their Live Help without result.

I pay for Broadband and have had no trouble for over 3 years but now getting onto the internet at all has become more than a problem  After just spending 20 minutes getting connected and entering a website it turned off again and asked me to reconnect.

I pay to AOL Security Suite obtained thru McAfee.  Now I keep getting popups telling me to upate McAfee Virus Scan but when I do so it is an error  If I take no notice of this pop up and continue I am starting to get that I am not covered by McAfee and now Microsoft are telling me the same.  When I check Security it is all installed properly.  AOL said they would solve the porblem within 72 hours but nothing has happened except when I went onto Live Help Technical section again  I was told to solve the problem my self with McAffee but I pay to AOL for the Security.  There are other things which are happening and it makes one wonder what is coming next.  The worst thing is when the telephone goes I now lose the internet conection and reconnecting is a slow process.  That problem has also been talked thru with AOL but everything they have asked me to check is in order.

It drives one crazy.   I ,also, had the trouble with trying to get Ancestry as well.

Better get back to bed

It is not compulsory to use the AOL browser even if they are your ISP.

You could use Internet Explorer or Firefox instead.

Internet Explorer should be installed as it comes with Windows.

Start >> Programs >> Internet Explorer

Firefox can be downloaded free-of-charge from:

http://www.firefox.org.uk/

It might be worth trying one or both of these browsers to see if they can overcome some of your difficulties.

Thank you for these tips.  I did put Internet Explorer on the Start menu recently because I  become so fed up with AOL .

I have heard of Fire Fox and may as well give that a try.  Anything is welcome advice when so many things start to seemingly 'go wrong'

I think you are the seventh wonder of the world with your knowledge of computers.

There needs to be a good technical book of questions and answers for all of the things which go wrong with computer use.....  especially for those in the ninth decade of life!!
