HEASMAN Research
« on: Monday 24 March 08 23:59 GMT (UK) »

Hi,

I am looking for instances of HEASMAN name in the SMI mainly for the 14 - 16th centuries.  The surname can be spelt in various ways and I appreciate that this could be a big ask.

Would welcome any help in this matter.

regards,

Loulou

Hi there

Just had a quick look on the SMI - there are over 600 entries for the surname HEASEMAN & Variants

It might help if you moved the goal posts a bit in order to narrow down the number of entries

Hi Loulou, I'm also researching Heasmans (mainly in the East Grinstead/Hartfield/Barcombe areas) and would be very interested to hear which line you tracing.
Cheers,
Ermy

Hi Loulou and Ermy

I have a Phillis/Philladelphia Heasman born 1798 In Barcombe to a Thomas and Mary Heasman. My Phillis was at some stage sent to the Refuge for the Destitute in Hackney I suspect for offending as a juvenile. There she stole some petticoats and smalls and was tried at the Old Bailey and shipped off to Aus in 1815.
Would dearly love to link her up to some family in Barcombe.
