Hi Sweeneyamand
Welcome to Rootschat
To find out more about them, we need to know a little more about them ie. when/where born so I'll post details of the 1851 census to help people who are trying to help you - it's difficult to know just what information you already have unless you tell us
1851
5 Clifton Street, Margate
Crispe VANHEAR head mar 61 ag lab b.Monkton Kent Phoebe wife 60 b.Westbere Mary A dau wid 26 b.Margate Robert C grandchild 6 b.Margate James 3 b.Margate Ann 1 b.Margate
HO107/1629 folio 432 page 20 ............................
Is this the last time that you have sight of Ann (bc1850 Margate) or do you have her on any later census etc.?

this is the family , ive looked on other census's and i cant find them anymore, i dont think that mary ann was originally a vanhear as on james's birth cert it says fathers name james vanhear although i cant find details of of what anns maiden name was, i know that crisp and pheobe died shortly after the 1851 census , but i would like to find out who ann married, who crisps parents were and who pheobes parents were , id also like to know their occupations and then find out about the other vanhears up to present day

Hi Sweeneyamand
So, on the birth certificate of James Hudson VANHEAR it has ...................
Column 4 name & surname of father - James VANHEAR Column 5 name & maiden surname of mother - Mary Ann VANHEAR
http://www.rootschat.com/links/03bu/
If there is only the one surname for Mary Ann then it should be that her maiden name is VANHEAR if that is what it says
These look like they could be the birth registrations for the three children though I am not so sure about the Mary Ann Skinner VANHEAR one
Crispe Robert VANHEAR 1845 Thanet James Hudson VANHEAR 1848 Thanet Mary Ann Skinner VANHEAR 1850 Thanet
http://freebmd.rootsweb.com
I wonder where the HUDSON comes from in James' name?
I see that Crisp & Phoebe VANHEAR did have a daughter, Mary Ann, baptised 1824 Margate St John http://www.familysearch.org so I wonder if she was actually James' mother and the lady in the 1851 census - the name, age, relationship and birthplace would be correct - just a question over the marital status and whether she did actually marry (I can't see any marriage)

Crispe VANHEER death Dec qtr 1867, Thanet, 2a 429, aged 76. Phebe VANHEAR death Dec qtr 1852, I of Thanet, 2a 336
See there are a number of VANHEAR children with Crispe as a second name all born Portsea in 1840s, 1850s and 1860s, so there must have been a branch of the family in Hampshire as well. Look like all children of John born c1822 in Kent.
1841 - Indexed as VANKHAN Clifton St, St John the Baptist, Margate Crisp VANHEAR, 45, Lab yes Phebe VANHEAR, 44, yes James VANHEAR, 14, yes HO107; Piece 468; Book: 5; Civil Parish: St John The Baptist Margate; County: Kent; Enumeration District: 15; Folio: 4; Page: 1

In 1841 there is a Mary VANNIER aged 17, a female servant in the household of James HAMILTON or Francis COBB in King Street, St John the Baptist, Margate, which could be Mary Ann. She was born in county. HO107; Piece 468; Book: 4; Civil Parish: St John The Baptist Margate; County: Kent; Enumeration District: 10; Folio: 9; Page: 9
Only name that vaguely fits.

The IGI has the baptisms of the children of John and Lucy, all submitted, plus the marriage of John VANHEAR and Lucy CRISP, 20 May 1771 at Monkton, Kent.
