Hello All,
I'm looking for info on William Armstrong b abt 1705 on the English/Scottish border. I'm told he is  on the 1751 Tax list in Peters Twshp, Cumberland Co, PA/Franklin Co, PA, & he died abt 1769 onwards.
Does anyone have his birthplace, date of death, or any other details?

Bob: Have read your continuing posts about the Armstrongs in Pennsylvania. I grew up in Pennsylvania, but about 200 miles west of Franklin and Cumberland counties. (I have spent a fair amount of time in Cumberland County and I know Armstrong County since it's not far from where I grew up.) I can't help you very much here except to clarify that Peters Township is in Franklin County. Also, have you looked at the Pennsylvania page on the USGENWEB site?

I've seen lots of info hinting at Kirkandrews-Upon-Esk, Cumbria &/or Canonbie, Dumfriesshire roots for some of  the Armstrong families in the area. I'm hoping to find solid evidence on any official paperwork in PA that confirms their UK birthplaces.
Many of the family trees I see on the net don't bear proper scrutiny, so I always try to find something solid to back up the supposed facts.
I'll give those sites a try.
