I did indeed find Samuel with James and go from there...
I have nothing concrete to link anything to the RIDINGs other than than, so it's quite possible that they are irrelevant.

That aside, finding James linked to Samuel the game-keeping father is still proving a frustrating challenge...? Huh

Right the 1853 birth certificate has just arrived...and unless Samuel changed profession, it's not my James...

When my Mum first told me that her grandparents were named Bowyer, I thought, what an unusual name. Little did I know Grin

We really need to find the marriage of Samuel and Hannah.

Why didn't I think of Boyer? I've looked for them often enough Bowyer/Boyer.

That marriage seems to fit the bill as far as the birth of James Bowyer goes doesn't it?

I've just asked Jayson if he will look up the birth of James at Tarvin in 1852 to see who his parents are. If he can do it and it is Samuel and Hannah then we may have cracked it between us. Cheesy

Now...where's me great grandad Huh
