1901 census lookup

Can anyone find Christopher John BALK and wife Lydia in the 1901 census?  He was born 1860 in Sunderland and is an engineer fitter, Lydia was also born in Sunderland in 1864.  In the 1891 census they are living at 179 Maxey Road, Plumstead - Christopher is shown as just John.

Can't find them but wonder if this could be the right couple, indexed under BACK
but looks like Balk on image

John & Lydia Balk left Liverpool for Philadelphia USA on the 'British Princess'  15 March 1893

Jno. aged  33   Married   Occupation: Lab
Lydia aged 29          "               "         Wife

How interesting!  They are indexed as Back on the 1891 census, although the actual entry clearly says Balk, so this looks like a definite possibility.  The only thing that worries me is his occupation - engineer fitter to labourer Undecided

Mother in law Mary Roseberry who was living with them in 1891 is back in Sunderland in 1901 living with her step daughter (my great grandma).

The occupation Lab. is dittoed from the one above, so could possibly be a mistake.  It seems unlikely, I would have thought, for there to be two couples of that name and right ages.

Worth checking Philadelphia arrivals if you can  Smiley

Arrived Philadelphia 29 March 1893 on British Princess.
BALK, John, 33, male, English, and an Engineer.
BALK, Lydia, 29, female, English, a Wife.
They had 4 pieces of luggage.
