I'm having a problem with IrfanView. I keep getting a message "Can't read file header. Unknown file format." This is what I'm doing:
Start/All programmes/Accessories/Next. Choose Scanning Preferences/Next Preview/Next Picture name & destination: Name the image/Next Picture being scanned Other Options/Next/My Pictures/Close Go to Irfanview/File/Open Enter file name/Open
It's at this point the message appears. Could someone please suggest what's going wrong ?

What is the ending (extension) of the file you are trying to read ??
Have you succeeded with this before, or is it a new technique ?

If you use My Computer to navigate to where the file you are trying to open is located, try hovering over the file name and a pale yellow box should appear listing the image properties.
What do these say?
