Bishopwearmouth or Sunderland Baptism 1800
« on: Wednesday 30 April 08 17:43 BST (UK) »

Would SKS see if they can find a baptism for William Wake born 1800 in Sunderland or Bishopwearmouth. The date is possibly a year out. He died in 1875 aged 75, and this date is correlated by a couple of censuses, but it could always be 1799 or 1801.

I didn't see anything in BWM but Sunderland in the IGI extracted records has a William Wake born 18 Mar 1800, baptised 29 June 1800 father Thomas Wake and mother Catherine Ovington.

Yes, I found that one, and may have to go with it in the absence of anything else.

Have you looked at durhamrecordsonline?    They have a lot of Sunderland and area records and the IGI coverage for Durham county is not brilliant.

Yes, I have. Can't find anything other than the IGI ones there, that's what I was hoping.

Thank you Mrs Louis, that's quite interesting, second son. I've not been able to find the marriage of Thomas and Catherine anywhere.

Have you looked at www.genuki.org.uk  ?   They have a link to marriage records I think.   The Northumberland and Durham FHS may help too.

Yes, didn't find it there. Lots of Wake marriages, lots of Ovington marriages, but no Wake/Ovington marriages!!!
