I know - I am Mum55 (born 1955) - we have linked before!

Many thanks for your help - I was rather hoping that this Henning family on the IOW would have links with Dorset for something I am trying to research - I have a member of the Henning family that went to the IOW on her own from Dorset at some point after 1886 - I guess I will have to track this family back a bit further. Are you able to find samuel at home with his parents in 1871?

In 1841 it looks as if George is an Apprentice shipwright,  age 15, living in the household of Jane Simmons (can't read her occupation as it's scored through) at Mary Terrace, Cumberland, West Cowes HO107/407/5 Folio 5 Page 5

Thank you all for working so hard on this one for me! I really must have some breakfast!

I have Kate henning who went from Dorset to IOW after 1886 and lodged with a family in west Cowes - and married William varney in 1891 in Cowes. her father was Ira Henning - born Cranborne and died fareham. i am trying to find out if she went to the IOW to stay with relatives on the Henning side.

Update - I may have something now!

1841 Census shows George Henning and wife Mary both born IOW.

George Henning married mary Pocock 1821 Freshwater.
george Henning was born 1798 to Francis henning and Elizabeth richardson in W Cowes.

Francis henning was born 1763 Lymington and married Elizabeth Richardson 1785 in Northwood, fareham - my link to the death of Ira henning in 1877.

Francis later died in 1814 - still to find location.

I'm confused by this statement.  Northwood is a parish on the Isle of Wight which included Cowes until 1832.  Try as I might, I can't find a Northwood in or near Fareham.

Thank you - I was misled by a reference on Google which stated Northwood(Fareham)- which I think now relates to names of boats!
