I have found a distant relative (Mary Ann Major) living at Bead House, South St Bourne in the 1871 census. I am assuming that this was lodgings of some sort as there are 5 elderly ladies, all widows, listed as Head at this address although they all have an occupation of "Bead House recipient" which may mean a poorhouse possibly. Can anyone enlighten me on this? thanks Tony
