What a star you are!! I've been looking for Elizabeth's birth for months. Thought she was in Leeds or Lincolnshire and there she was in Beachampton all the time.
You mentioned seeing them in the 1851 ... where did you find them? In Hull?
There are many mysteries with this lot, not least that the wife's name starts off as Ann Read and then turns to Ruth Read in 1842 when the youngest child is born. Then turns to Rose. Could be three wives, or two, or just the one

Yes that is my lot in Drypool. I knew about that census entry but was very surprised you had found it (and so soon . Mary Ann is another child b abt 1840, and then William born 1842 in Hull. At the 1841 census they were living in Hunslet - part of Leeds.
I was hoping to find a marriage to work out whether Ann Sheppard (nee Read) and Ruth Sheppard (nee Read) are the same person. According to census info, Ruth was born in Surfleet. According to the IGI she was born in Deeping. I think she was prob born in Deeping but brought up in Surfleet and may (?) have been married in the area but have not found the marriage. How they got together between Beachampton and Lincs and where Ann actually came from - who knows.
Hey ho ... just another family history mystery.
Thanks so much for your help Tazzie ... those baptisms are a big leap forward !!
Luv Sue x
