Hi Gillian,
From workhouses.org.uk - Holdings include: Minute books (1898-1930); Admission and discharge register (1909-37); Visiting Committee report book (1920-48); Chaplain's Register, including notes on baptisms in poorhouse (1903-41); etc. All held at the Argyll & Bute Council Archives in Lochgilphead.

Hi Gillian, as far as I know, the records of Lorn Poorhouse have not survived. Argyll & Bute Council have all poor relief claims at Lochgilphead but Lorn isn't among them. What survives are mostly from , Inverarary & Glenaray, Killean & Kilchenzie, Kilchoman, Kildalton, Kilarrow & Kilmeny, Campbeltown, Gigha & Cara, Lismore & Appin, Sadale & Skipness and Luss. Not all of these contain claims, some have lists of poor, council minutes book, applications, medical officers book etc. Glasgow City Archives should have all of these at the Mitchell Library in North St Glasgow.
I think Lorn Combination Poorhouse would have been in Oban. Sadly, the public library there has little to help the family historian, although the staff do try their best.
