The marriage of James and Grace was actually in 1802 (from the IGI).

James MAY m Grace TROLIP (sic) 5 Apr 1802, Trowbridge Wiltshire.

A James MAY and a Grace had a son Frederick James MAY bap 5 Aug 1802, died 4 May 1803 Trowbridge Wiltshire.

Have you looked at the entries in the Parish Register for these events just in case they provide a clue?

Films of parish registers can be ordered in to your nearest LDS Family History centre for a small charge.

Did James and/or Grace migrate to NSW?

PS: Why do you wish to contact the Freemasons in England?

I'm puzzled why you were looking for Thomas's birth if what you actually want is to trace his parents, James and Grace  Huh

Hi Jap
I always get the birth cert of every ancestor with this one i cannot find it also i am wondering if there was some cover up
into his birth or mistake and its Windsor australia. The history on the family indicates he was born in uk.I cant see how she could have had time for all these children She must have had a couple before she married or that grace trollope  and James is not my family.
James b 1801 1802 came and joined family later.
thomas 1802-1803
martha?
trying to get to the bottom of it        liz

Liz,

I'm sorry to keep asking asking ...   But it seems the only way to go.

I presume you are quite sure that a Thomas MAY is your ancestor?

What certificates do you have for him?  What information is on them?

Where did the idea that your Thomas MAY was a son of a James MAY & a Grace TROLLOPE come from?
And where did the idea that Thomas was the son a James MAY who was a convict come from?

All the best,

Hi Jap
Thomas had 2 sisters born in nsw his name is on their M.Cert
he was in partnership with his brother in law
John ike Kettle .I have pictures of him left to my family by him.
I have all the certificates back to him from me.I have everything but the birth or baptism of him.Mays Hill at Parramatta  was called after him as he built the first house on the hill there. The colonial secretaries letters on his sisters going into a orphanage whenFather( James )died the letters refer to Thomas the brother. My great Aunts telling me of him and showing me where my great grandmother lived in the hotel at broadway as we went passed in a tram .Liz

Hello Liz,
If you go to this site  http://www.ugle.org.uk/ which is the Grand Lodge site, you will find an email address to make initial contact for genealogy purposes.  I have visited their museum and library which is by invitation only, and I must say that I was very impressed with the helpfulness of the Archivist and every one else.
Regards

Dear jap
All information on Thomas came from the Parramatta historical society research was done for me .plus they have his file there. There is too much to mention but i do not have any doubt i am related to Thomas May .But as you put it i am not sure that Grace Trollope is the Mother  A grace may  is in musters as his mother but i am not sure if the james may and Grace trollope  in england are his parents as there seems to be too many children James behind left in england and 2 on the Experiment with her and marriage was in 1802.
Unless of cause she had twins.
