Can you fix the little girls eye?

Hi,

I would be very grateful if somebody could save the little girls sight and perhaps fill in some of the holes. 

The photo is of my gt grandparents and some of their younger children.

Lovely picture, Elin, sure you will get some good results.

However, I really liked your comment that it is of your gt grandparents and "some" of their younger children.

I make it 9 children plus the baby.  There were more?  Your great grandmother looks quite calm, considering!  Grin

Hi Igorstrav,

Thanks I only just got the photo yesterday but have lusted after it for many years! 

They had 24 children (gulp) altogether, although some came after this photo was taken.  The parents both lived to a ripe old age.

I thought your great grandmother looks very young in the photo, possibly not even 30 yet.

I thought the eldest child (girl on back left?) could be 12, so I suppose 1 per year from 18?HuhHuh

We just don't know what to be thankful for, do we.

Hello all,

Thanks Jenny and Carolyn for the wonderful tidy ups.  I can't begin to tell you how impressed I am.  It is really lovely to see the photo looking so good and   you have both done wonders with the little girls eye.  I am delighted.  Cheesy

Igorstrav,  just checking my family tree it seems that the oldest girl in the photo was  the first born Nelly,who was  born in 1884 and the little girl on  the right was my Grandma Louise born 1892.  The last birth I found for the family was in 1905, so Annie spent at least 20 years in childbirth. Shocked  Although there were some twins. She was born in 1861, so I think that you are about right with her age.

I don't know what to say about this photo. It's absolutely marvelous.
Papa looks so proud of his family, and Mama so quietly patient. I'd date her dress around 1898, by the way, does that make sense?
But my favourite character in the group is the little girl with her arms folded.
Harrumph! So there!
You can almost read her thoughts.

There is such talent on this board I'm speechless. Well almost!

Paula - I'm touched that you like the photo so much!  I think that the date would be spot on and Papa really does look proud doesn't he?   
The formidable little girl with folded arms was my gt aunt Gwenllian and she became a real force to be reckoned with!  Despite having a curvature of the spine she saw off several husbands and lived until her 100th birthday.  She could kill with a glance and had a tongue that was a lethal weapon.

I had an Aunt Win like that... God bless her and her sewing machine drawer...
Their father died in an asylum, and while the rest of the family turned their backs on him, Aunt Win dug her heels in, and kept a picture of the poor man in her sewing machine drawer, ready for me to inherit. Grateful? I can't tell you how much.

Good Bless Aunt Win, Aunt Gwen and all of their kind.  They were strong and determined women.  I am glad Aunt Win saved the photo of her father,  poor man!

We owe them a lot, Elin. They made this coutry what it is, I'm sure.
I found one last ironic twist to the story of my Mad Grandfather Joe. Through Roots I found that it was a works related illness brought on by working on the wood they used at that particular time...
Poor man indeed.
