When did Alfred M Brown and his wife Mary die?
« on: Friday 02 May 08 11:25 BST (UK) »

Both were born in 1857, Mary was Mary Brunt, born in Fenton, both were still alive in 1901 according to the census reports.

Mary was a 'Fruiter Shop Keeper' in Market St, Fenton in 1901.

Kind regards

Tigsy - a few ideas to narrow the search. Have you tried looking at trade directories? It sounds as though Mary may well be listed & you could perhaps identify when the latest entry appears. There are some online (free) at the Historical Directories site
http://www.historicaldirectories.org/hd/
and others (pay to view) at
http://www.midlandshistoricaldata.org/index.html

You could also try a search on the Wishful Thinking site in case a memorial inscription has been transcribed (though I suspect there may be rather a lot of Browns)
http://www.midlandshistoricaldata.org/index.html

Finally, I have come across some online trees for Browns - it may be worth a search around in case someone has Alfred & Mary, then you'd only need to verify the data.

Good hunting!

Thank you, I have checked these without success.

I did however receive a copy of Sarah Brunt (Mary Browns mother) death certificate and it confirms that Mary was still alive in 1916 and living on Duke St, Fenton

I think Alfred Brown was still alive in 1913 as he was named on his daughters wedding certificate.

I would dearly like to find these certificates as these were my Gt Grandparents.

Any assistance greatly appreciated.
